Series 31: WORKING IN DIRECT SUNLIGHT
Dealing with Bounced Light- S31L3 Download
This lesson is S31L3, Dealing with Bounced Light of the WORKING IN DIRECT SUNLIGHT Series. Using as her subject a bin of pears, Dianne explores how to observe and translate the degree to which the local color in shadow areas change according to color of light bouncing from their surroundings.
Under direct sunlight, the position of the sun and the position of the viewer effect our perception of everything we see. Not only that, but direct light actually gives us three different light sources: the sun itself, the sky and reflected light from illuminated images. This series addresses how the location of the sunlight effects the way we see color according to its orientation to the sun itself.
Rather than becoming refined paintings, all these lessons are studies, each showing a different approach for using color schemes. Dianne’s approach to teaching is to show you ways to think about making choices and decisions so that you can work these into your own unique approach to painting.
