THINKING WITH COLOR
Download
To think with color we use its vocabulary: hue, value and intensity.
Every part of any color we see can be identified not only by its hue, but also the value of that hue and the hue’s intensity. Within any single shape, each of these vary and meld one into the other according to how they are lit or how they fall into shadow.
This tutorial teaches a thinking process by which you can observe and mix any color you are seeing. Dianne guides you step by step towards thinking through how to find color mixtures, then setting up your palette to use those mixtures for creating a painting.

Rather than becoming refined paintings, all these lessons are studies, each showing a different approach for using a composing principle. Dianne’s approach to teaching is to show you ways to think about making choices and decisions so that you can work these into your own unique approach to painting.
