Series 31: WORKING IN DIRECT SUNLIGHT
Showing Reflected Light- S31L2 Download
This lesson is S31L2, Showing Reflected Light of the WORKING IN DIRECT SUNLIGHT Series. Continuing with her study from Lesson 1 of this series, Dianne explores how the color of the sky influences the color of those things receiving their illumination more strongly from the sky itself than from the direct light source. She also give attention to small areas of shadow receiving reflected light from things around them.
Under direct sunlight, the position of the sun and the position of the viewer effect our perception of everything we see. Not only that, but direct light actually gives us three different light sources: the sun itself, the sky and reflected light from illuminated images. This series addresses how the location of the sunlight effects the way we see color according to its orientation to the sun itself.
Rather than becoming refined paintings, all these lessons are studies, each showing a different approach for using color schemes. Dianne’s approach to teaching is to show you ways to think about making choices and decisions so that you can work these into your own unique approach to painting.
