Fifth Friday Feature: Winter River

$15.00

In this two hour feature, Dianne takes you through the process of creating a painting from conception to a rough finish.   While painting, she talks about various principles taught in Series 7, 8 and 9, explaining how she’s applying them as well as using them to solve problems that pop up during the painting process.  A photo of the finished piece is included with this download.  Since this video is much longer than the regular lessons, expect it to take more time to download.

Fifth Friday Feature:  Winter River

snippets from video

Our Fifth Friday Feature:  Winter River focuses on Series 7, 8 and 9, pulling together the concepts taught for using the brush as a communicator, working with values and exploring value patterns.  In the regular video lessons, Dianne uses studies, rather than a finished piece, to teach a particular principle.  In this two hour feature, Dianne takes you through the process of creating a nearly finished painting from conception to a rough finish.   While painting, she refers to various principles taught in Series 7, 8 and 9, explaining how she’s applying them and using them to solve problems that pop up during the painting process.

Toward the end of the video, Dianne talks about her own process for finishing a painting, explaining the necessity after a point, for the painting to rest for a while before being completed.  Indeed, she did complete this piece after making the video and includes a photo of the finished painting in a PDF included with your video download.

Our hope for the Fifth Friday Feature is to offer both reinforcement for previous lessons and to allow our students an opportunity to revisit the concepts they’ve already studied.

To see more of Dianne’s work, go HERE and clip on Paintings.  Among other artists who use these principles effectively, take a look at works by James Gurney and Lori Putnam .
