I am so excited! This is a real eye opening video! Thank you so much for creating it and allowing me to view it! You are excellent at teaching! This will be so useful to me from now on! Thank you again!
I really love how you emphasized that “discovery is the point” of doing these types of studies. This was so helpful in clearing up some misunderstanding or confusion I’ve had about notans being SHADOW vs light and not just dark vs light. I took an online course that seemed to use the b&w notans as a preliminary shape & value study. Not at all about lighting and shadows. All dark objects were black even if in full sun. Now I understand why some of my thumbnails looked like the lighting of the scene & others didn’t. I’ve really noticed how the form & cast shadows seem so distinct & captivating when studied closely in a “messy” subject like this forest. There is so much to notice I get overwhelmed sometimes when I’m outside in beautiful lighting.
